The latest chapter in Kimmelux’s story began at the very point where the company had nearly been destroyed.
The Joensuu-based manufacturer of home, safety and bullet-resistant glass already has more than two decades of experience in the glass market. Although Kimmelux has always produced a wide range of glass products, the company was long burdened by a reputation as being mainly a windscreen business.
The end, however, marked a new beginning. A trio of entrepreneurs from Joensuu — Jarkko Tarnanen, Mika Saareks and Anssi Hyttinen — recognised Kimmelux’s value: the company had skilled glass manufacturing professionals, a wide product range and a strong nationwide reputation.
The foundation for future development was so strong that Kimmelux was worth saving. So the men seized the opportunity — and brought the company back to life in just four months.
The aim is to grow Kimmelux’s workforce from the current six employees to around twenty within the next five years.

Kimmelux is also Finland’s only STANAG 4569-certified glass manufacturer — all products are made in Joensuu, and we deliver them quickly throughout North Karelia and further afield when needed.
