Kimmelux burglar proof glazing guarantees the highest level of mechanical protection.

Kimmelux burglar proof glass is manufactured by combining glass and polycarbonate sheets with the unique Panstor compound. Burglar proof glass combines excellent optical properties, hardness, and the strength of polycarbonate. Burglar proof glass does not distort colors and its light transmission is excellent. Intrusive bars are no longer necessary when protection is provided with Kimmelux burglar proof glass. A glass alarm can be integrated into burglar proof glass during manufacturing, which triggers an alarm when the glass surface is broken.

Mechanical security cannot be improved by electronic alarm systems, nor can it ever be replaced.

Kimmelux burglar proof glass guarantees the highest level of mechanical protection and is therefore particularly suitable for glazing in private homes and locations containing especially valuable property, such as art galleries, museums, banks, embassies, and jewelry stores.

Testing

Kimmelux burglar proof glass has been tested in accordance with SFS EN-356 classes P6B, P7B, and P8B.

The burglary resistance test EN 356 is conducted as an axe test, in which an attempt is made to create a 400 x 400 mm opening in a 1000 x 900 mm glass panel with a specified number of blows.

For example, if 31 axe blows are sufficient to produce the required opening, 400 x 400 mm, the glass is awarded classification P6B, and with 71 blows and above it achieves class P8B.

Kimmelux burglar proof glass has been tested by the German research institute Beschussamt Mellrichstadt. In the test, the axe blade was continuously replaced with a new one to maximize the cutting efficiency of the axe on the glass panel.

Classification

Burglar-resistant glass is classified in the SFS-EN 356 standard, resistance to impact by sharp objects. In Finland, the SFS_EN 356 standard classifies the requirements for security glazing. The impact resistance classes for sharp objects are P6B, P7B, and P8B.

Our Recommendation

A standardized test can only represent a small portion of attacks against burglar proof glass. After all, not every attacker will attempt to attack the glass with an axe. Although an axe attack represents a brutal method of attack and is therefore a highly suitable test, burglaries often occur using entirely different methods.

Kimmelux burglar proof glass has therefore been tested more rigorously than the standard requires, including with explosives and vehicles. This is the only way to obtain a realistic understanding of its durability and properties.
