Kimmelux offers glass heating systems for bullet-resistant glass up to STANAG Level III. The heating is invisible to the naked eye.

When the temperature drops below 0 °C, glass freezing becomes a problem. When driving in snowfall, using the wipers can cause ice to build up on the glass surface until the driver’s visibility is partially or completely obstructed. The situation becomes highly uncomfortable and poses a risk not only to the driver, but also to any passengers and other road users.

As a solution to this problem, Kimmelux offers glass heating systems. Kimmelux has invested significant time in research and development to create better technology and new features that improve the product across all bullet protection levels, as well as in terms of aesthetics and durability.

Kimmelux’s latest technology offers better optics, appearance and response time than previous solutions. The glass defrosts faster than with the older technology.

Kimmelux’s heated glass products use high-optical-quality metal-coated glass and polymers.

Sensors, such as those used in night-vision cameras and optical devices, as well as light and rain sensors, all work by transmitting signals or waves through vehicle windows.

The metal-coated glass used in anti-icing glass normally blocks these signals, as the metal acts as a shielding material.

Kimmelux uses various types of metal-coated glass in its glass heating systems. However, for specialist military vehicles, we also use a special material which, when combined with low-iron soda-lime silicate glass, provides high energy transmission for both visible and IR radiation in bullet-resistant glass.

With specialist glass technology, the outer surfaces of bullet-resistant glass can be heated, providing the best possible visibility and safety inside the vehicle.

The heating system can be designed with the required heating output, depending on the intended use.

We have manufactured heated bullet- and blast-resistant glass in thicknesses of over 100 mm.
